Vocal Cords are a musical instrument and are, one might argue, potentially the most difficult instrument to play because the source is hidden from view. 

Unlike an inanimate object like a guitar or piano, where the application of a 

finger placed in the same visible place each time will play the same note in 

perfect pitch, singing is practiced internal muscle control to produce music. 

So, singing is not only 'live music' it's the most 'live' you can possibly get,

since the entire sound is actually being generated by a 'living' instrument!
